Darby Hughes is the Worship Director at Faith Community Church in Woodstock, GA.
I began writing music in 2000, and released my first album, “September Will Be Through,” in 2004.
After working at Faith Community Church for several years, I decided in 2018 to begin the new project of writing new hymns and congregational songs with biblically-oriented, content-focused lyrics as well as singable melodies for practical, congregational use.
Colossians 3 says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” I believe that congregational singing should be a significant part of the teaching/edifying ministry of the church. And this means that our songs should attempt to reflect the depth and breadth of our theology.
This was the motivation behind my latest 2 releases, “We Sing Aloud,” and “A Living Faith.” We sing many of these songs in worship on Sundays, and I hope they will be a blessing to you and possibly of use in your worship services.
Lord willing, I plan to continue to regularly write and release new material in the months and years ahead.
